Peter Forrest
Peter counsels clients in all aspects of patent prosecution, litigation, and related due diligence, licensing and strategic planning. His experience spans a wide variety of technical fields, including electronics, optics, materials science, computer architectures and applications, data storage, financial and e-commerce methods, and medical devices in the cardiac, orthopedic, and neurological markets. Peter's clients, located throughout the U.S., the Pacific Rim and Europe, look to him for help in forming cost-effective IP and technology development programs that require creating, licensing and litigating patent and technology issues. Peter has also taught software law and intellectual property strategy at the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas.
Peter graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor of Science in Physics in 1979. He earned his Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law in 1988. While working full time in patent law, he also earned a Master of Science in Management of Technology from the University of Minnesota in 1999. He is licensed to practice in Minnesota, before the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Peter is also active in the local community, serving as a member of the Parish Pastoral Council and Men's Club (past president) at the Church of St. Joseph in West St. Paul.
